FOOD FOR THOUGHT
"I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will
elude you.
But if you focus on your FAMILY, your FRIENDS, the
needs of OTHERS, your WORK and doing the VERY BEST you
can, happiness will find you"

Youth SVP are pleased to announce that
ROBERT SLINN has been appointed as the new
National Youth Development Officer and will take up the
position in August.
Meanwhile a familiar face will be acting
as temporary YDO until Robert takes over.
WELCOME BACK to KHERA MISSEN

Khera will be spearheading the Camp
Vincent programme. Many of you may remember Khera as the
very able number 2 to Paul Lever a few years ago.
Good to have you back, Khera.

Youth SVP is a voluntary Christian
organisation. When you join a Youth SVP group, you volunteer
to offer one-to-one help and support to people in need in
the local community. It was founded in 1833 in Paris by a 19
year old student called Frederic Ozanam and his university
friends.
Youth SVP is the largest youth organisation
in the Catholic Church of England & Wales. Since 1999, over
10,000 young people have put their faith in to action by
becoming a member of Youth SVP.
SVP stands for the St Vincent de Paul Society
and is active today in 132
countries around the world. You can set up a Youth SVP
group in a secondary school, 6th form college or parish. The
first step is to recruit an adult – say, a teacher, a parent
or school chaplain – who would act as your group adviser.
You choose your own group leader or president and you would
meet regularly to plan your activities in the local
community.
For those who are moving on to University, SVP work can
