Camp Vincent

Report: Camp Vincent 2010

In July Youth SVP members from across the country came to Ampleforth in Yorkshire for the annual Camp Vincent. Camp Vincent was packed full of various activities, giving Youth SVP members the chance to think about their faith in group workshops, discussions and youth liturgy. The theme of the camp was “Holding their Hope in Our Hands”. The young participants were invited to reflect upon how they could bring hope to people around them, and how they could help people through their Youth SVP volunteering and their everyday life.

There were also games which developed their team building and leadership skills. Time was given to play sports, prepare music or do arts & crafts. Socialising played an important part of the week with a quiz night and karaoke session. The “It's a Knockout” activity also proved a very popular, if wet, activity! Many participants left camp saying that they had had a great time, and had gained more confidence and new friends. Fingers crossed next year's camp will be even better...

Camp Vincent has been running for over 10 years, and is one of the UK's largest (and we think best!) Catholic youth events. Camp Vincent 2011 will run from the 18th to the 21st of July. Keep the dates free - booking will commence in January 2011! For more information please feel free to contact us.

Was it worth coming? Why not hear what the participants had to say themselves:

Camp Vincent 2010 was amazing! Everybody was friendly and the activities were good fun :)”

“The reflections were really lovely! The Leaders were all wonderful and amazing for sharing their stories with us all. They also made me think about certain things more deeply”

“This was my first year at camp and I took away a lot of new friends from it which is really good. The reflections affected me a lot and made me think into things a lot more (in a good way)”

“I took away the ability to have more confidence! I was able to talk to new people and open up freely to people I have only just met. Also I was able to make lots of new friends which I hope to keep in the further future! Also it gave me a chance to talk to leaders who could give me an insight to what they have done in the past and what I could do“

“Gave me that sense of calm and reflectiveness. Making me think about the big things once again!”

“Wouldn't miss it for the world :D”
